On November 26,2025, in order to thoroughly implement the provincial Party committee and government’s directives on intensifying pollution prevention and control efforts and advancing the “Zero-Waste City” initiative, while promoting substantial progress in solid waste source reduction and resource utilization, a delegation from the Solid Waste and Chemicals Environmental Management Center of Guangdong Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment, accompanied by relevant leaders from Zhongshan Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau, conducted a specialized research visit and on-site inspection at a recycling company.

The inspection team conducted on-site visits to the enterprise’s production facilities, including the scrap metal recycling and sorting workshop, end-of-life vehicle dismantling assembly line, electronic waste disposal center, and standardized temporary storage warehouses for hazardous materials such as waste oil and spent lead-acid batteries. During the field symposium, Zheng Shengchang, Vice President of the Group Company, Qi Jianwei, General Manager of Zhongshan Material Recycling Company, and Huang Jiajie, Assistant General Manager, delivered a comprehensive presentation to the delegation. They detailed the company’s operational history, its role within Zhongshan’s renewable resource recycling system, current challenges faced, and recommendations for industry development.

The leadership meeting of the Solid Waste and Chemicals Environmental Management Center under the Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment emphasized that municipal and district-level ecological authorities must continue to provide guidance and support services. While enforcing strict regulatory oversight, they should actively address enterprises’ legitimate concerns, assist in resolving practical challenges, and guide industries toward scaled, standardized, and high-value development. Together, they aim to establish a comprehensive, efficient, and secure solid waste resource utilization system, thereby providing robust ecological support for the high-quality development of Guangdong Province and Zhongshan City.

This inspection activity demonstrates the high-level attention paid by provincial ecological environment authorities to grassroots solid waste management practices, as well as their focus and support for the healthy development of the circular economy industry. It provides guidance for Zhongshan City in further advancing the construction of a ‘waste-free city’ and enhancing the modernization level of solid waste governance.
